About me

Mabry Mill, Patrick County, Virginia, Summer 2011.
My name is Lucy, and I am a May 2011 graduate of the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. One of the fun parts of my degree was getting to take part in field experiences at various libraries. In the winter of 2011, I had the opportunity to return to my home library in Charlotte County, Virginia, where in addition to researching the first twenty-five years of that library I got the chance to create this blog. I still feel fortunate to have been able to briefly work where I first learned the ins and outs of the library world.

I got the idea for this blog from another blog - Read North Carolina Novels - which is a project that I first contributed to as part of my research assistant position at the UNC North Carolina Collection (I liked it so much that I convinced them to let me stay involved as an alumna). We summarize books set in North Carolina to help readers identify good reads in the Tar Heel state. This blog works much the same way, although authors from Southside Virginia will also be included. I will make a sincere effort to add books at a regular pace, but there might be a lull from time to time. For that, I apologize. Please feel free to make book suggestions, comments on my posts, and any additional feedback that will help me with this exciting project. Please also share the blog with friends!

Many thanks!
Sincerely,
Lucy
